The “Accessible MultiMedia Entertainment Center,” or AMMEC, is the first multimedia system that allows you to operate various menus and read all of the information on the screen, via its speech output - without visual assistance! Since all of the entries and positions on the menu navigation are read out loud by means of speech output, you always know exactly where you are in the menu, and for the first time you have the option of verifying the correctness of your entries and settings. Another almost revolutionary breakthrough is that the “Accessible MultiMedia Entertainment Center” is a completely self-sufficient multimedia system for the blind/visually impaired. All of the AMMEC’s features can be used to the full extent without the use of additional hardware or software!
Thanks to the wide variety of features – and more manageable menu structure – the AMMEC offers you six pieces of equipment in one:
- TV receiver; with the option of digital satellite television (DVB-S) or digital cable television (DVB-C), each accordingly with the option of digital television via antenna (DVB-T)
- Video recorder with recording option on the hard drive (up to 90 hours)
- Teletext decoder
- EPG reader (electronic program guide)
- DVD player (for DVDs burned by yourself and that are not CSS protected)
- Audio player for different formats.
Aside from basic features such as the channel search – which can be automatically implemented according to the type of reception and provider – the programming of, for example, recording times also offers a highly user-friendly solution: the AMMEC offers you the option of programming the timer from an electronic program guide or by means of manual entry. Recorded shows are automatically named, although you also have the option of entering the information manually. The device provides you with a list of the recorded shows for the purpose of replay, which in turn can be used to archive individual shows on DVD.
The AMMEC’s remote control is just as user-friendly. It is equipped with various special features, e.g. selection of the audio track or volume control of the television – without impacting the speech output – it offers you the option of utilizing the AMMEC’s complete range of functions. With its assistance, you can read line by line or have an entry repeated, and also utilize features such as having the colored buttons and captions read out loud.
The “Accessible MultiMedia Entertainment Center” has also set new standards with regard to the type of application and connectivity. In addition to the fact that the AMMEC is available for television reception via cable, satellite or DVB-T, it also offers you different ports to ensure the perfect audio experience. For the AMMEC is equipped with a port for your HiFi system on one side and with an optical digital outlet for connection to your home cinema system (Dolby Digital) on the other side. Ports for the network and USB round out the offer.
